UFO Experiencer Chris Bledsoe's Regulus Prophecy Draws Skywatchers
Before dawn in Giza on October 7, a star rose in front of the Sphinx, as it does every year. A North Carolina man says a being told him it would mean new knowledge for the world. This desk explains why it is covering a prophecy, and what the sky actually did.

At about half past five this morning, Egyptian time, the star Regulus rose over the eastern horizon at Giza, roughly in the direction the Great Sphinx has faced for four and a half thousand years. 26 Thousands of people were awake for it, on livestreams and in comment threads, because Chris Bledsoe, a North Carolina man who says he has been in contact with luminous orbs and a being he calls the Lady since 2007, had been told this was the moment. 127
The words, as he reports them: "When the red star Regulus aligns just before dawn in the gaze of the Sphinx, a new knowledge shall come into the world." 67
Why UFONN is covering this
This desk does not report contact claims, and nothing below should be read as endorsing one. UFONN is covering the Regulus prophecy for the same reason it covered TIME's cover in August: it is a measure of where the audience is. A specific, dated, publicly testable prediction attached to a UFO experiencer drew a crowd large enough to be a story in its own right, and the prediction had an astronomical component that can be checked. 12 So we checked it.
What the sky said
Bledsoe first attached the prophecy to Easter Sunday, April 5, citing modelling he said had been shared with him by people at NASA. 15 It did not happen. Regulus on that morning was not rising in the east; it was setting, well below the horizon before dawn, in the west-northwest — behind the Sphinx, not in front of it. 345 The date was then revised, by Bledsoe and by followers running planetarium software, to October 7, when Regulus does rise before the sun in the eastern sky. 126
It does, and it did. It also does so every year. Regulus rises from Cairo on every day of the year; what shifts with the season is whether it clears the horizon before dawn drowns it. 34 Early October is simply the stretch when the star is visible low in the east before sunrise. Nothing distinguishes 2026 from 2025 or 2027. 3 The star is also blue-white, not red; it reddens near the horizon the way everything does, because of the atmosphere. 346 And it rises some distance north of due east, which is where the Sphinx actually looks. 3
A prophecy that names a star and a date is better than most, because it can be wrong. This one has now been wrong once and ordinary once.
What the skywatchers got
A sunrise. At the time of writing, UFONN has found no report from any outlet, in any country, of anything over Giza this morning beyond the dawn. The thread that carried the prediction into its final hours had thirty comments by last night, most of them expecting nothing and one predicting, correctly, that a lot of people would believe the next date too. 2
Bledsoe's prophecy has three parts: a star, a date, and a change in knowledge. The first two have been spent. The third cannot be falsified, which is why it will survive. 4 The desk will note that the subject's most durable prophecies are the ones that cannot be checked, and that the one which could be, was.
