Six Spheres at 480 Miles an Hour, and the Programme That Studied Warp Drives

The Pentagon's sixth tranche publishes the Defense Intelligence Agency's 2008 study programme in full — wormholes, antigravity, a report on injured observers — alongside a 2025 video of six spheres over a U.S. military platform.

The Department of War published its sixth tranche of UAP files on Friday: 55 documents, 15 videos and one audio recording, spanning 1952 to 2025, most of them redacted somewhere. 12 Sixty-seven came from the department and four from a Colorado law-enforcement agency. 1

The weight of the release is a programme, not a sighting.

AAWSAP, in its own paperwork

The Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program was run by the Defense Intelligence Agency from 2008 to 2012 to study aerospace threats out to 2050, with an emphasis on technologies that would break the expected trend lines. 1 The tranche contains 37 of its Defense Intelligence Reference Documents — the commissioned papers on warp drives, wormholes, antigravity, negative-mass propulsion and invisibility cloaking that have circulated in partial form for years. 15 The difference now is that the names of the offices that produced them are no longer blacked out. 1

One paper stands apart. A 38-page 2010 analysis examines evidence of unintended injury to human observers by what it calls anomalous advanced aerospace systems: three antenna engineers who reported skin reactions and hair loss after an unexplained event, one of them showing signs of radiation illness. 125 The department's covering note describes the reference documents as synthesis products rather than original research, and says their publication should not be read as validating the concepts discussed. 1

That caveat is doing a lot of work. The programme spent public money commissioning papers on faster-than-light travel. Publishing them does not make the physics real, and it also does not make the programme less real.

The sightings

A clip from U.S. Central Command, dated 2025, shows six small spherical objects grouped together over a U.S. military platform, changing direction with what the official description calls agility, at an estimated 480 miles an hour. 234 A second Middle East clip from 2022 tracks objects one to two metres across at 80 to 180 miles an hour. 1 Four videos from a Colorado sheriff's office, recorded on a phone in October 2023, show a silent object with red, blue and green flashing lights. 13

Six objects in formation, turning hard at jet speed, over an American military platform last year. The department released the clip. It did not release an answer.

The oldest thing in the box

An hour-long 1952 recording of Captain Edward Ruppelt, who ran the Air Force's Project Blue Book, explaining its methods: about 800 reports reviewed, roughly a fifth of them from reliable witnesses and still unexplained after analysis. 12 Alongside it is Blue Book's own study of the Tremonton, Utah film from that July — a dozen or more reflective objects shot by a Navy warrant officer — which the investigators ultimately leaned toward explaining as seabirds in sunlight. 23

The department says redactions protect witnesses and sensitive military information, and that nothing has been withheld about the nature or existence of any reported encounter. 3 The seventh tranche is being prepared. 6
